Denby Pottery was established in 1809 when William Bourne discovered the exceptional qualities of the local clay. Denby Pottery gained an international reputation for their salt-glazed bottles and jars, which were used to store anything from ink to ginger beer! In the late 1800’s Denby pottery expanded its kitchenware ranges and the company began using richly coloured glazes that would become Denby Pottery’s trademark. Denby Pottery radically changed its product range in the 1950’s, moving away from kitchenware and predominantly into tableware. In the 1980’s ‘casual dining’ became more popular with the general public, and Denby Pottery ranges such as Regency Green and Imperial Blue were able to be used for family dining as well as in formal entertaining settings. These ranges still prove very popular today, along with more contemporary designs such as Azure, Jet and Caramel. Denby Pottery have also created glassware and cutlery ranges to compliment the popular tableware ranges. China Chaps now sell all current Denby Pottery ranges in our Snodland store.
