Robert Welch was founded in 1955 when Robert Welch completed his studies at the Royal College of Art and set up his own studio inn old Silk Mill in Chipping Campden in the Cotswold’s. Robert Welch believed in the efficiency of working in small, close teams and so called upon the complementary skills of designers, prototype makers and manufacturers to help realise Robert Welch designs. In 1962 Robert Welch designed the Alveston tableware range, named after his home village, near Stratford-upon-Avon. Composed of elegant curves and planes, it won the Design Council award in 1965. Since then, Robert Welch has continued to design popular cutlery ranges, as well as the Signature Knives range, which are popular today for use in the home as well as in professional kitchens. Robert Welch has an extensive range of products, and all of them are still created today by the Robert Welch design team in the same Old Silk Mill that Robert Welch began designing in over 50 years ago. China Chaps now sell all current Robert Welch ranges in our Snodalnd store.
