Royal Albert started life in 1895 when Thomas C. Wild and his father, Thomas Wild, purchase the Albert Works in Longton, Stoke-On-Trent. Royal Albert initially traded as Thomas C. Wild & Co., and within 20 years the company had acquired several other factories around Stoke-On-Trent. In 1970, the company changed its name to Royal Albert. Royal Albert primarily manufactures good quality, bone china teaware. Royal Albert’s early success was built on the popular ‘Derby’ patterns, which were made in as good quality china, but cheaper than its competitors. Harold Holdcroft joined the Royal Albert in 1932 and in 1962 designed the famous ‘Old Country Roses’ pattern. It remains today as the flagship of the Royal Albert brand and continues in production as one of the world's most popular and well known china patterns. Royal Albert now also make bone china dinnerware and giftware ranges in some of their most popular patterns. China Chaps now sell all current Royal Albert ranges in our Snodland store.
