Royal Doulton was established in 1815 when John Doulton invested his life savings into a stoneware factory in Lambeth, London. Royal Doulton was initially a manufacturer of stoneware pipes, however, the company soon turned its hand to artistic pottery, and in 1877 Royal Doulton purchased a factory in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffodshire that handled tableware as well as ornaments and earthenware. From 1894, the Royal Doulton factory began to use new techniques and started to produce bone china and the ideas and inspiration of key individuals like John Slater and Charles J Noke built its reputation in figurines, vases, and decorative pieces. More recently, Royal Doulton began a partnership with Michelin starred chef Gordon Ramsay, creating several ranges that include tableware, glassware and cutlery. Royal Doulton have also collaborated with famed fashion designer Monique Lhuillier, to create two stunning tableware ranges. Royal Doulton now manufactures classic and contemporary tableware, giftware and collectibles.
China Chaps now sell all current Royal Doulton ranges in our Snodland store.
